On Saturday, Oct. 30, as customers and dealer representatives arrived for Daewoo Heavy Industry’s third annual Customer Appreciation weekend in Atlanta, Tim O’Malley, Daewoo’s vice president of sales announced, “I know you all came to have some fun and see a race. So we’re not going to take a lot of time for speeches. So here’s mine: Welcome to Atlanta and thanks for coming.”

The weekend, held in conjunction with the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, included a Saturday tour of Daewoo’s North American headquarters and an appreciation dinner. More than 100 Daewoo customers, dealers and staff members attended, making this the most highly attended Daewoo event in Atlanta.

“This is the event that our organization looks forward to the most each year, because it gives us a chance to spend time with the people who mean the most to our organization –– our valuable customers,” said Carl Yoon, executive vice president of DHIAC’s heavy construction equipment division prior to the facility tour. “We’re all very excited about the opportunity to show you our facility, which serves as a tangible sign of our commitment to the North American market.”

Early Sunday morning, Oct. 31, all guests boarded charter buses bound for the speedway, where they had the opportunity to watch Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowes Chevrolet car, cross the finish line first.

“I’m circling my calendar for next year’s event,” said Dan Debe, sales representative of Lano Equipment in Minnesota, who was one of the guests. “I wasn’t able to make the last two Daewoo customer appreciation race weekends. I wouldn’t want to miss it again next year.”

Phil Mascioli, of Mascioli Construction, Timmins, Ontario, agreed. “It was an awesome weekend. I can’t remember the last time I have been treated so well and thoroughly enjoyed the company and events we attended.”
