In July of 2011, A.P. Enterprises hosted its first breast cancer fundraiser. Company President Sean Fico named the event Loads of Love in recognition of his family members who have been touched by cancer, including his mother and his aunt.
“I have had many family members and close friends affected by cancer throughout my life. Many have won, many have lost. So, I decided at this time in my life I wanted to give back. In honor of my mother and all men and women affected by cancer, I decided to start my first ever fundraiser.
At the event, Fico’s mother Marylou, a breast cancer survivor, was behind the wheel of the company’s Case 821B, which had been painted hot pink.
“We painted our loader and a pusher hot pink to represent the fight against breast cancer and the fight against all types of cancer,” Sean Fico said.
“We plan to move the pink loader around to a variety of locations on an ongoing basis to encourage others to contribute. Any funds generated by the pink loader will be donated to the fight against cancer, one hundred percent.”
The unveiling, which took place on July 9 in Ontario, N.Y., included fun activities, fire trucks, food and raffles. To view a video of the event, visit youtube.com and enter “Loads of Love.”
