Caterpillar Pin Grabber Performance Bucket Maximizes Excavator Digging Performance

Sun February 01, 2009 - National Edition
Construction Equipment Guide

Caterpillar’s pin grabber performance bucket provides maximum digging performance when using a pin grabber coupler on hydraulic excavators. The system delivers powerful bucket curl forces in combination with the versatility and convenience that a hydraulically powered quick coupler offers.

The recessed pin design reduces tip radius and gives as much as 10 percent improvement in breakout force when compared to conventional pin-on bucket and coupler systems. The bucket is reversible on the coupler for easier work under pipes and sidewalks and for trench cleanup.

High-strength tempered steel construction helps ensure durability without requiring thicker, heavier plates. The result is longer bucket life and larger payloads. The bucket has removable plates on the sides of the bucket for access to the bucket pins when maintenance is needed.

Caterpillar K Series ground engaging tools deliver a new standard of performance for tip retention, easy change-out and long term sharpness. A twist-on tip design and vertical retainer ensure reliable retention and easy removal and installation.

Pin grabber performance buckets are offered in three different durability configurations to enable customers to match the bucket to the application for the lowest owning and operating costs. The buckets are general purpose, heavy duty and heavy-duty rock.

The new bucket is available in a range of sizes from 0.43 cu. yd. (0.33 cu m) to 3.34 cu. yd. (2.56 cu m) for Caterpillar hydraulic excavators ranging from the 315 to the 345.
