The National Pike Steam, Gas & Horse Association will hold its 30th annual spring convention and outdoor show, May 15 and 16 at the National Pike fair grounds, located on U.S. Route 40, 4 mi. west of Brownsville, Pa. From 5 acres and 20 members, the show has grown over the years to 100 plus acres and more than 600 members.
The show features many operating crawler tractors, graders, scrapers, bulldozers and other vintage machines as well as two very rare operating steam shovels: a 1913 Thew steam shovel and a 1927 Erie steam shovel. The equipment on display will include a Manitowoc 3500 stripping shovel and many other shovels, draglines, backhoes and cranes working side by side.
The show attractions also include steam engines and tractors, sawmill, shingle mill, threshing and baling, flour and corn meal, blacksmith shop, oil well derricks and engines, antique farm tractors and equipment, antique cars and trucks, a large craft display and huge flea market. A Pedal Power tractor pull for the children, rope making, hay rides, horse drawn wagon rides and live daily entertainment round out the event.
There are several eating areas, plenty of shade and free primitive parking.
All antique equipment owners, collectors and enthusiasts are invited to display their equipment.
