Liebherr presents the A 918 Litronic wheeled excavator compliant with the latest emission stage Tier 4f / Stage IV at Conexpo 2017. With an operating weight between 38,800 – 43,600 lb (17,600 and 19,800 kg) and engine power of 163 hp (120 kW) , the A 918 is the ideal machine both for standard earthmoving and road construction, as well as drainage and pipeline work.

The A 918 Litronic provides exceptionally high lift capacities and digging forces in addition to excellent travel performance and very low fuel consumption.

The exhibit is equipped with an 8 ft. 4 in. (255 cm) wide undercarriage with front and back outriggers. The equipment includes a 16 ft. 5 in. (5.00 m) long angled mono boom with central lubrication and a 8 ft. 8 in. (2.65 m) stick with the quick coupler system SW48, as well as a 3 ft. 5 in. (1 m) wide backhoe bucket with Z-tooth system and a capacity of 1.05 cu. yd. (0.80 cu m).

More Power, Lower Consumption

A newly developed and highly efficient Liebherr diesel engine is installed in the Liebherr A 918 Litronic wheeled excavator. The innovative Liebherr SCR technology is used in this current engine generation, which consists of a SCR catalyst system and other components such as an injector and AdBlue supply. A particulate filter is not necessary, but can also be installed for special construction site requirements. The complete system reduces exhaust emissions effectively without any compromise in performance.

The maintenance intervals were also extended due to the further development of the Liebherr engine. This leads to fewer downtimes, thus increasing the productive working time of the machines. The increased efficiency achieved saves the customer unnecessary costs.

Due to the Liebherr Power Efficiency (LPE), which optimally controls all power management processes of the new Liebherr wheeled excavators, the fuel consumption is reduced considerably. The proactive intervention in the engine control, adjustment of the swing angle of the hydraulic pump and of the engine speed, provide for optimum efficiency of the drive components in every working situation.

Comfortable Cab, Simple Maintenance

Another highlight of the machine is the new cab for enhanced safety and comfort. A foldable armrest is included in the standard equipment, which offers the machine operator enhanced safety when getting in and out of the excavator. Due to the large windows the machine operator has optimal view of his working area at all times. Standard operation of the excavator is performed via the proportional control on the joysticks to offer greater comfort. When moving the machine the operator does not need to change his grip and can complete levelling work smoothly and precisely. Other standard equipment, such as the windsheild wiper for the lower windshield, spacious storage options, an easy-to-clean floor mat and four-dimensional adjustable armrests, add to the comfort of the cab.

The new automatic digging brake is installed as standard in the A 918. The digging brake is opened automatically upon startup and closes again automatically when the machine is stationary. This ensures maximum safety and high productivity owing to shorter response times.

The service-orientated layout of the machine guarantees short maintenance periods and minimizes the associated maintenance costs. All components of the new A 918 Litronic requiring maintenance are clearly arranged on the right-hand side of the machine, can be easily accessed from the ground and are easy to reach thanks to the large, wide-opening service doors.
