Associated Equipment Distributors (AED) announced the appointment of Bob Henderson as the association’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective immediately.

In his new role, Henderson will report to AED President and CEO Toby Mack, and be responsible for association operations. Henderson also will serve as executive director of The AED Foundation, where he will lead and administer the programs and activities of the foundation.

“AED is indeed fortunate to have found a more-than-capable veteran equipment industry executive to step in and shoulder a great many responsibilities for this organization,” said Mack. “As a highly respected and widely known industry executive, Bob is of the highest caliber. He is a most welcome addition to our operation. The AED staff and I are very excited to be working with Bob, and our members will benefit from his new role.”

Henderson brings more than 35 years of industry experience to AED. He most recently served as the president of Highway Equipment Co. of Zelienople, Pa., and prior to that was president of Cummins Interstate Power in Columbus, Ohio. Henderson also has a long history of volunteer participation and leadership for AED, having served on a multitude of boards and committees. Highlights of his service to AED were his term as AED President in 1999, and President of The AED Foundation in 2002-2003.

“Having been on the other side of the fence as an AED member and volunteer for the association, I am very pleased to have the opportunity to serve AED once again — now from the inside,” said Henderson. “I’m looking forward to working in an operating capacity to help ensure that the association is meeting the needs of our diverse membership.”
