The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the National Association of State Facilities Administrators (NASFA) have released a new joint publication to provide guidance on the use of CM/GC (also known in the industry as CM At-Risk) in the public sector. The CM/GC Guidelines for Public Owners is designed to help public owners understand this project delivery method and provide insight on its application in the public construction market.

"AGC is delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with NASFA on this important publication," said Larry C. Gaskins, AGC president, and president, L.C. Gaskins Construction Company, Jacksonville, FL. "Our public owner customers have a great deal of requirements placed on their ability to deliver needed public facilities at the highest quality and best value. Hopefully, these guidelines will make help make that process a little easier."

"Guidelines on the use and applicability of CM/GC in the public sector have been needed for some time," said NASFA President Thomas J. Sandretto. "Working cooperatively with AGC, we have developed an indispensable tool for public owners and contractors alike in providing sound guidance on the Construction Management/General Contractor method of construction project delivery."

AGC and NASFA have been working together for the last several years to help bridge the communication gap between public owners and the construction community. An AGC-NASFA Joint Committee now exists to work on key industry issues and provide necessary guidance as a public owner-general contractor team.
