Atlas Copco Introduces XATS 1050 CD7 Compressor

Wed May 25, 2011 - National Edition
Construction Equipment Guide

The engine in the Atlas Copco XATS 1050 CD7 complies with the new emission standards that went into effect in the United States, Canada, Japan and Europe in January 2011. The new standards are part of the U.S. EPA Nonroad Regulation Tier IVa and the EU Nonroad-Directive Stage IIIB (Tier IVa / Stage IIIB). This legislation mandates substantial decreases in the emission of particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) from off-road diesel engines, and Atlas Copco’s newest compressor meets the new standard.

The new air-end in the XATS 1050 CD7 is designed to operate more efficiently than its predecessors. Preliminary testing of the new model indicates that it will significantly reduce fuel consumption. Fuel economy also is improved by the variable-speed cooling fan, which is designed to run only as needed rather than continually, according to the manufacturer.

Emission control is built in to the new controller. Unlike some other units, no separate control area is necessary.
