Bomag BW161AD-2 and BW202ADH-2 tandem vibratory rollers feature a redesigned operator’s compartment that provides improved visibility and ease of operation.
Both the BW161AD-2 and BW202ADH-2 feature a seat that slides laterally from one side of the operator’s platform to the other, giving the operator a clear view of the drum edges on either side of the machine.
In addition, the redesigned seat allows the operator to swivel 180 degrees for a full view of the unit’s rolling pattern and to watch for material buildup on both the front and rear drums. An integrated travel lever, featuring thumb-tip vibration control, provides easy adjustment of the roller’s speed in any seat position.
Both the BW161AD-2 and BW202ADH-2 produce 17,000 lbs. (23,052 N) of centrifugal force in low amplitude at 3,000 vibrations per minute (vpm). In high amplitude, they deliver 29,100 lbs. (39,459 N) of centrifugal force at 2,700 vpm. Both are powered by 112.6-hp (83.9 kW) Deutz diesel engines.
The BW161AD-2 offers a drum width of 66.1 in. (1.6 m) and an operating weight of 20,867 lb. (9,465 kg). The BW202ADH-2, the largest roller in Bomag’s tandem line, boasts an 84-in. (2.1 m) drum width and an operating weight of 25,236 lbs. (11,446 kg).
Standard crab steering on both machines allows operators to offset rear drums up to 6.7 in. (17 cm) in either direction. This feature allows the operator to increase rolling width and prevents the rear drum from making contact with curbs or other obstructions when rolling into and out of turns.
The pressurized water spray system, featuring two corrosion-resistant, polyethylene water tanks; keeps the drums free from material buildup. A gravity backup allows water flow to continue should the pressurized system fail.
An articulating center joint delivers +8-degree oscillation, enabling full drum contact on irregular terrain. The bolt-on center joint offers long life and simple replacement without welding. By minimizing lateral overhang, Bomag’s unique drum support leg design provides better visibility of drum edges and avoids costly damage while compacting around obstructions.
A wide-opening engine cover permits easy access for maintenance and service as well as visual checks of hydraulic oil levels, hydraulic oil filter, air filter and battery. A simple LED diagnostic system allows fast and simple trouble-shooting on site. Harmful vibration feedback is minimized through a rubber-isolated operator’s platform. For operator protection, ROPS/FOPS with seat belt is standard.
