Carolina CAT recently took on the Morooka product line.

“We are very excited to introduce the Morooka line at the Cat Rental Store, said Neil Carbaugh, rental services manager of Carolina CAT. “Morooka is a proven leader in the track carrier industry, and they give us another low ground pressure solution that we can provide to our customers working in sloppy terrain. We are now the official retail dealer for Morooka in North and South Carolina, and will be carrying the full line in our rental fleet.”

Curt Unger, vice president of sales of Morooka USA, noted that when they met at ConExpo, one of Carolina CAT’s biggest customers happened to be there, too.

“He saw the MST 4000VD, which was the first one we brought into the United States,” Unger said. “For his application, he thought it was a perfect machine. He bought the first one in March and has now added a second machine to his fleet.”

Unger said that all Morookas are basically designed the same, with each model increasing in size. Each has rubber tracks, two piston pumps, a charge pump and two motor/final drives. Each unit provides very low ground pressure (even when loaded) combined with an extreme amount of tractive force. Low ground pressure is the most important aspect of the Morookas, according to Unger.

“There are other products similar to Morookas, but a lot of the other track vehicles are designed with larger cabins to carry people and are not designed to handle a large payload,” Unger said. “Morookas are designed for large payloads, either as a crawler carrier carrying attachments or a crawler dumper carrying rock and dirt. It can do jobs that nothing else can. If you’re a contractor working with soft or steep ground conditions like those often found when erecting transmission lines, working on pipelines or environmental reclamation, Morooka units are often the most effective way to get tools and materials to the job site and get the work done. It gives contractors the ability to effectively move loads where other units on tires cannot go and avoid the cost of building an access road. If an access road is a must, then often Morooka is the unit used to haul in the mats or stone to build the road.”

Morooka also offers a variety of sizes to help match the right machine to the job. Each machine has the following features:

Hydrostatic Transmission

The hydrostatic transmission allows for economical use of the engine’s full power. All steering maneuvers can be executed with a pair of single-hand control levers. Two speed ranges can be selected with a flip of the toggle switch. The H.S.T. system completely eliminates the need for clutch and gear controls making the Morooka carrier highly maneuverable, which helps complete projects on time and on budget.

Durable Rubber Tracks

The rubber tracks offered on Morooka carriers are the result of more than 50 years of joint development from Bridgestone and Morooka. The rubber tracks combine the characteristics of a tire equipped vehicle, such as speed and a smooth ride, while providing the traction of a steel track. Rubber tracks offer the best of all worlds with low ground pressure, high performance movement and excellent traction.

Easy Maintenance

The Morooka Rubber Track Carriers main components (engine, hydraulic pumps, drive motors and steering levers) are easily accessible, allowing for reliability and convenient maintenance.

Cabin and

Operator’s Seat

The cabin on the Morooka rubber track carriers are extremely roomy. The efficient heating and air conditioning offer maximum comfort on the 1500, 2200 and 3000 models. The new shape of the cabin, with its large windows, offer the operator excellent visibility while increasing safety as well.

Undercarriage

The floating bogie-wheel undercarriage on the Morooka machines are always in contact with the ground and absorb the shocks that occur from running on uneven ground. The unique Morooka undercarriage allows for a stable and smooth ride with less vibration which results in less driver fatigue and more productivity on the job site.
