Carter Machinery Company Inc. and Caterpillar Global Mining LLC finalized a transaction June 3, 2013, through which Carter acquired from Cat Global Mining its expanded Cat Mining products distribution and support business for Carter’s service territory. Carter is the authorized Cat dealer in Virginia and southern West Virginia.

Jim Parker, CEO of Carter, stated, “Carter is well established as a trusted resource in the mining industry. Through this acquisition, we can now deliver the same unrelenting and unmatched support we provide to our surface mining customers, to those working underground.”

“We are committed to being the partner mining customers want,” said Steve Wunning, Caterpillar group president with responsibility for Resource Industries. “One of the best ways we prove this statement is through Caterpillar’s dealer network. Carter Machinery shares our goal to exceed customers’ expectations through Caterpillar’s unmatched support, integrated solutions and providing the best quality products and services.”

Carter now offers complete sales and support for the expanded Cat Mining product lines added as a result of Caterpillar’s acquisition of Bucyrus International in 2011. They include Room & Pillar and Longwall equipment, Electric Rope and Hydraulic Shovels, Highwall Miners, Drills, Belt Systems and various other lines of support equipment.
