The latest upgrade to the Case line of backhoe loaders, the M Series 3 lineup includes the 580M, 580 Super M, 580 Super M+, 590 Super M and 590 Super M+. These five models range in net horsepower from 79 to 109 (59 to 81 kW) with dig depths from 14 ft. 3 in. (4.3 m) on the standard backhoe to 20 ft. 4 in. (6.2 m) with the Extendahoe.
All Case M Series 3 models feature Case Family IV engines with Tier III certification, as well as improved performance and serviceability
New Engine, Backhoe Performance Improvements
These Tier III-certified engines are turbocharged to provide the extra power required by customers. Electronic engines with high pressure common rail injection on the Super M and Super M+ models improves cold starting and fuel efficiency. The Super M+ models also feature pressure compensated load sensing hydraulics to improve fuel efficiency, helping moving more yards per gal. of fuel.
An optional new power shift transmission with three-speed reverse provides smooth, on-the-go shifting. Increased pushing power in first and second gears provides more productivity in loader operations.
A new electronic auxiliary control for the loader allows precise, easy control of attachments like a 4-in-1 bucket, and a rotary hand throttle and easy-to-operate foot throttle on the Super M and Super M+ models make it easy to set the engine to the desired RPMs.
And, when it comes to stopping power, the new M Series 3 backhoe loaders come standard with low-effort, power-assisted brakes, as well as a new SAHR (spring-applied, hydraulic-release) parking brake.
Easy-to-Operate Controls Increase Productivity
Features like the PCS “Pro Control System” allow novice operators to become productive faster and seasoned professionals and experience more comfort while operating. Optional pilot controls provide even easier operation with joystick controls.
To accommodate operator preferences, the control towers are infinitely adjustable within the fore/aft and lateral positions. Wrist rests also are height adjustable. Additional flexibility is provided by the in-cab pattern change switch, which allows operators to easily switch between backhoe-style or excavator-style controls, based on personal preference for increased productivity.
Case M Series 3 backhoe loaders are now available with one-touch idle built into the Case pilot controls, allowing the operator to return the engine to idle at the touch of the button. Pressing the button a second time returns the engine to the previous RPM setting.
A thumb-proportional control for the Extendahoe provides relaxed, precise and easy fingertip operation, according to the manufacturer.
Auto-up stabilizer controls allow the operator to raise the stabilizers while swiveling the seat to the loader position for faster turn-around and increased productivity. The 590 Super M and Super M+ models feature a larger steering cylinder increasing steering torque.
Improved Serviceability
Case M Series 3 backhoe loaders provide increased uptime and profit through ease of serviceability. Features like a flip-up hood, external sight gauges and grouped ground-line service checks make for fast, easy access to maintenance and service locations. A new electronic instrument cluster with diagnostic and service reminders is especially convenient for operators on the job site.
New axles with outboard wet disc brakes mean the axle does not need to be removed to be serviced. A single-level axle lube fill and check, water-aspirated air cleaner and swing out coolers all add to the ease of maintenance on the M Series 3 line of backhoe loaders.
