Chicago Pneumatic Trench Rollers Rotate in Tight Corners

Tue February 21, 2012 - National Edition
Construction Equipment Guide

Chicago Pneumatic offers two models of trench rollers for working in cohesive or granular soil in connection with trenches, backfills and foundations in confined areas and on roads. Both units are designed with counter-rotating drums, allowing the unit to rotate on their own axis, making turning tight corners easy.

With the choice of either 24 or 33 in. (63 or 85 cm) high-profile drums, Chicago Pneumatic trench compactors are equipped with tall pads on the drums to increase compaction efficiency and enable the machine to climb slopes up to 35 degrees. Powerful, high-displacement hydraulic wheel motors with efficient torque provide traction, even in the toughest ground conditions, including clay, according to the manufacturer.

The Bluetooth radio-controlled, fully hydraulic Trench Roller comes standard with a Hatz diesel engine and is equipped with an emergency manually controlled system, which includes an emergency push-stop bar and a safety push-stop button. These units boast an operating weight of 3,683 lb. (1,675 kg).

Chicago Pneumatic trench compactors boast forward travel speeds of up to 0.78 mi. per hour (1.3 kph) and top reverse speeds of 0.75 mi. per hour (1.2 kph).

Service points are easily accessed under the top cover, and maintenance and radio remote access is optimized with two lockable-hinged doors.
