Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co. Inc., a Cat dealer serving Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and western Maryland, is celebrating 75 years in business.

Founded in 1948, when brothers Bob and Roy Cleveland took over the Cat dealership in central Pennsylvania, Cleveland Brothers is now a third generation, family-owned company with Jay Cleveland Jr. serving as president and chief executive officer. The future of the company looks bright as a fourth generation of the family — Jay "TJ" Cleveland III and Thomas "Tommy" Kirchhoff — has joined the company.

Since 1948, Cleveland Brothers has grown and expanded to serve 59 counties in Pennsylvania, 17 counties in West Virginia and two counties in Maryland. This expansion included the acquisition of Beckwith Machinery, a Cat dealer based in western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia, and One Call Rentals, a network of Cat Rental Stores in western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia.

"Celebrating 75 years as a Cat dealer is a significant achievement, and we couldn't have done it without our employees and loyal customers," said Jay Cleveland Jr. "We have a proud history of supporting customer growth and success. I attribute the company's success to the values my grandfather instilled 75 years ago — safety, integrity, commitment, teamwork and excellence."

Cleveland Brothers offers equipment sales, rental, parts and service to a diverse customer base, spanning construction, oil and gas, mining, power generation and transportation industries. To meet the unique customer needs, Cleveland Brothers has increased capabilities to include a technology division, SITECH Allegheny; a dedicated hydraulics, machining and chroming shop, CB HYMAC; a crushing and screening division, CB Con-Agg; and is part of a nationwide truck parts and service network, RIG360.

Jay Cleveland Jr. sees the company adapting its capabilities and expanding into new industries to continue to meet customers' needs in 2023 and beyond.

"From the time Cleveland Brothers first opened for business in 1948, until now, many things have changed, but one thing has remained the same — a commitment to help our customers succeed," he said.

To coincide with the anniversary, a year-long celebration is planned at the company with customer open houses and employee appreciation events.

Cleveland Brothers, headquartered in Murrysville, Pa., has more than 1,300 employees at 29 locations, including shop and field technicians, sales representatives, parts specialists and office professionals.
