On Jan. 18, 2002, Cleveland Brothers Engine Division branch that opened in 1997 in Milesburg, PA, reached a milestone by serving its 10,000th customer, Classic Motor Lines of Philipsburg, PA.

Classic Motor Lines received a Cat cooler filled with Cat novelty items, that was delivered by Todd Perrine, Cleveland Brothers’ branch manager.

Owners Tom and Louise Bertothy established Classic Motor Lines in 1994 and now have a fleet of 135 air ride 53-ft. (16.2 m) trailers and more than 92 late model power units. Classic Motor Lines has been a customer of Cleveland Brothers and other Cat dealerships throughout the Northeast.

“Wherever we travel, we’ve been treated well, even from Cat dealers who don’t know us,” said Tom. “Caterpillar has really set a standard for customer service. We’re so pleased with the service we receive from our local Cat dealer and other Cat dealers wherever we find ourselves.”

Classic Motor Lines has taken advantage of Caterpillar’s advances in truck engine technology. “Caterpillar Fleet Information Software (FIS) helps us to keep a handle on operating costs,” Louise said. “We download information from the engine’s electronic control module (ECM) and analyze the results. All this has helped us grow. We’ve doubled the size of the fleet almost every year since we started.”

Cleveland Brothers is central Pennsylvania’s full-service distributor of Caterpillar equipment and engines. The company’s Power Systems Division also is a distributor for Sullair air compressors, and switch gear equipment from Zenith, Asco, Russell and ISO. Fourteen facilities are located throughout central Pennsylvania.
