Cat Lift Trucks is encouraging qualifying high school seniors to apply for its $5,000 scholarship before the deadline of 5 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2014. The company announced in October that it is continuing a decade-long tradition of awarding one deserving Houston-area high school student with a scholarship toward higher education pursuits in Texas.

Applicants must pursue a degree in engineering or a business-related field at an accredited college, university or technical school in the state of Texas. Each application will be evaluated based on academics, leadership and community involvement. These elements, along with two narrative essays, will be weighted equally in deciding the finalists.

Students from public and/or private schools within Harris, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller counties are eligible to apply.

Application forms and scholarship requirements can be downloaded at www.catlift.com or picked up at the local Houston Cat lift truck dealer, Adobe Equipment Inc.’s five Houston locations:

The Cat Lift Trucks Scholarship program, now in its 10th year, has awarded a total of $80,000 to deserving Houston-area high school seniors.

The scholarship recipient will formally be awarded the check during a reception at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where the company also will celebrate its 10th anniversary as the event’s official lift truck provider.
