Steel Suspension System Offered on Bobcat Track Loaders

Bobcat’s new compact track loader suspension system uses all-steel components to increase operator comfort without sacrificing durability. The new roller suspension system is available as an option on the Bobcat T320 compact track loader and will be added to other Bobcat compact track loader models later this year.

One way the Bobcat roller suspension system provides greater operator comfort is by minimizing vibration at the ground. The rollers are suspended by high-strength steel leaf springs to reduce vibration. Another way Bobcat has increased operator comfort is by requiring less steering lever effort to turn the loader. The track idlers on the Bobcat roller suspension system have been raised, making the compact track loader easier to turn, according to the manufacturer.

In addition to improving operator comfort, easier maintenance is built into the roller suspension system. The area around the drive sprocket has been increased to allow improved cleaning. The design of the undercarriage frame enhances debris shedding when working in muddy conditions. This prevents material from clogging the rollers and keeps the loader running. Clean-out holes have been added to the enclosed undercarriage to allow access for pressure washers.

The Bobcat roller suspension system does not require greasing or adjusting. The rollers are permanently sealed and lubricated with synthetic oil, eliminating the need for regular maintenance to this part of the system.

The roller suspension system is able to increase operator comfort and decrease maintenance while providing durability. The rollers are made of forged steel and the springs are shot-peened steel. These steel components provide strength on the job and reduce undercarriage repair costs, according to the manufacturer.

The drive motor and hydraulic lines of the Bobcat roller suspension system are kept in fixed positions. This limits the possibility of the hoses becoming snagged. It also reduces wear from vibration and rubbing during operation of the compact track loader. Protecting the hydraulic hoses in this way decreases the possibility of downtime due to hose wear. The drive motor housing is hidden. This limits exposure to debris such as mud or sticks that are kicked up during operation and could damage the machine.
