Doosan Portable Power offered American Rental Association (ARA) members a peek into the past in its booth at The Rental Show 2013. The booth display commemorated 50 years of exhibiting at The Rental Show, as the commitment by the company to become an exhibitor at the annual ARA trade show began in 1963.

To commemorate the 50-year anniversary, Doosan Portable Power hosted Chris Wehrman, ARA executive vice president and chief executive officer in the booth, where she was presented with a gold diecast Doosan P185 portable air compressor model presented by Shawn Sweet, president, Doosan Portable Power.

A gold-painted Doosan P185 portable air compressor — a legacy product in the rental industry — was showcased in the center of the booth to honor the last half-century of exhibiting at the trade show. The special P185 was purchased by ARA member, O’Leary’s Contractors Equipment & Supply Inc., headquartered in Chicago.

Also spotlighted in the booth were machines representing the Doosan product range, including the newest addition to the Doosan Portable Power line — the G70 mobile generator. Other products featured included the G25 mobile generator, P425 / HP375 dual pressure air compressor, C185 air compressor, LSC compact light tower, BL2000 balloon light and multiple light compaction equipment models.

Doosan Portable Power staff members continued the theme, dressing in ’60s attire and greeting ARA members with daily refreshments, including a gold candy buffet and a 50th anniversary cake. A second significant milestone was celebrated on behalf of Joe Jabbour, rental sales and marketing manager, Doosan Portable Power, who has been with the company and staffed the booth at the annual ARA show for 41 years. A display board highlighting his many achievements with Doosan Portable Power and the rental industry was featured in the booth.

News, entertainment and advertising film clips shown in the booth took visitors back to the ’60s with speeches from Martin Luther King, President John F. Kennedy, and news footage of the state funeral of John F. Kennedy in 1963. Television commercials also were shown, including a Chevrolet corvette spot and promotions related to popular television shows from the era.

Attendees who stopped by the booth had daily opportunities to win a gold diecast Doosan P185 model and additional diecast Doosan models. Winners were selected from entries submitted by taking a Doosan Portable Power history quiz.

Doosan Portable Power also celebrated 50 years of exhibiting as a gold sponsor at The Rental Show 2013. In addition, the company donated a Doosan LSC light tower to the ARA Foundation 2013 auction, held at the trade show. Proceeds from the annual auction support programs, including scholarships, disaster relief and recovery, and the Rental Executive Advisory Program (REAP).
