Dressta’s TD-15M Extra crawler dozer features enhanced productivity and operator comfort. Productivity is based on a fully electronic Tier III-certified Cummins engine that delivers 190 net hp (142 kW) and a maximum torque of 745 ft-lbs. (3,318 N). Power ratings are achieved with an engine speed of 1,950 rpm, 250 rpm slower than the previous model.
The new engine provides average increases in drawbar pull of approximately 15 percent, substantially increasing overall machine productivity, while reducing operator and bystander noise levels.
The engine on the Dressta TD-15M Extra is equipped with an air intake grid heater as standard equipment, eliminating the need for the optional ether starting attachment in cold weather operating environments. The machine has an operating weight of up to 46,451 lbs. (21,070 kg) and a blade capacity of up to 7.8 cu. yds. (5.95 cu m).
“The TD-15M Extra gives us a powerful mid-size dozer with the latest features and benefits for those applications where you need more push than our small dozer line offers,” said Tom McGonigle, director Dressta North America. “It’s an ideal machine for when you want big machine power and performance without the big machine cost.”
Modular Power Train
A modular, countershaft power shift transmission with electrohydraulic controls delivers the speed and power to drive the Dressta TD-15M Extra through the toughest jobs. The system allows the operator to preset the travel speed and auto-downshift. A single stage 13-in. (33 cm) torque converter with a 2.6:1 stall ratio leads from the transmission through a double universal joint to maximize tractive effort.
Cab Offers All-Day Comfort
Contributing to a comfortable full day of work is the optional six-sided cab, which offers a deluxe interior with enhanced all-around visibility. The two doors have sliding windows to go along with the large window area of the cab to provide good blade and ripper viewing for precise control of the machine.
The cab is sealed and has a built-in air recirculation system. It has a sound suppression system and is separated from the engine compartment for a quieter, more comfortable ride.
The air suspension operator’s seat is adjustable and equipped with full arm rests and a 3-in. retractable seat belt. The seat swivels 14 degrees to the right for better blade and ripper viewing and enhanced controllability designed to reduce operator fatigue.
Two-Speed Geared Steering
The combination of a three-speed transmission with two-speed (Hi/Lo) steering yields six forward and reverse ground speeds for load matching capabilities. The TD-15M Extra has a single-lever joystick control that combines the functions of three levers into a single joystick.
Advanced Motion Control
Dressta engineers have combined the hydraulic control system on the TD-15M Extra with advanced solid state electronic circuitry in an electrohydraulic motion control system.
All control functions are activated by moving the joystick or by pushing a control button located on the face of the joystick.
Ease of Operation
The joystick control provides up and down shifting of the transmission, Lo or Hi range selection of both left and right track drives, or full power geared turns. Pushing the right or left rocker switch selects the desired Hi or Lo range. Moving the joystick forward or backward moves the dozer in the same direction — a Front/Rear (F/R) detent provides hands-free motion. Moving the joystick left or right activates clutch-brake or pivot type turns.
Enhanced Maintenance, Serviceability
A rear platform located behind the fuel tank aids in refueling, air conditioning filter changes and cab rear window cleaning to enhance serviceability. Maintenance on the Dressta TD-15M Extra includes a 500-hour oil change interval. The air conditioner condenser was moved to the rear of the cab roof for easier access.
The Dressta TD-15M Extra is available in Standard (STD), Long Track (LT), Wide Track (WT), and Low Ground Pressure (LGP) track configurations. Blade configurations include Straight, Semi-U, Angle and 6-Way to meet a variety of applications including construction, roadwork, demolition, landfill and forestry operations.
In addition to the Dressta TD-15M Extra, the wide range of the Dressta crawler dozer line includes the TD-7M, TD-8M, TD-9M, TD-10M, TD-12C XP, TD-20H, TD-25M, and TD-40E.
