The DuraClass Sidewinder is able to spread sand or salt up to 25 ft.
Wed August 05, 2015 - National Edition
The 5 to 14 cu. yd. (3.8 to 10.7 cu m) capacity DuraClass Sidewinder dump body operates as a standard dump body and provides a solution for spreading material during the winter months. The body sidewall is shaped into a continuous top rail, side and running board configuration, eliminating the outside seam weld below the top rail, preventing moisture and freeze problems, according to the manufacturer.
The DuraClass Sidewinder is able to spread sand or salt up to 25 ft. (7.6 m), the width of two full traffic lanes, with continuous feed from the dump body. The unit features COR-TEN steel, a heavy-duty box braced tailgate, full depth corner posts with additional support added to the right rear post and continuous 100 percent welding on the body.
The 3 to 4 cu. yd. (2.3 to 3 cu m) Sidewinder Jr. is designed for medium duty truck applications and complements the larger Sidewinder dump body. With its compact size, the Sidewinder Jr. increases maneuverability on narrow roads and in metropolitan areas, while minimizing clearance concerns. The body is easily prepared for unexpected early or late snowfalls and can be used for mid-winter construction events, such as water main breaks, without having to remove sanding equipment. The Sidewinder Jr. delivers salt/sand to the front of the truck’s tires through a conveyor system, providing added traction for traveling up and down hilly terrain. The unit’s low profile allows for safe traveling in minimum clearance areas such as under power lines, areas with low tree branches or under bridges.
The Sidewinder and Sidewinder Jr. also are available in stainless steel construction, offering significant corrosion resistance, durability and years of performance.
