The Delaware Valley Associated Equipment Distributors (DVAED) held its Fall Open House Meeting Oct. 15 at Norris Sales Company in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.

Mark Skuby, director of risk control services of the Safeguard Group was the guest speaker. Possessing more than 30 years of insurance risk control experience, Skuby explained to DVAED members how to improve current safety committees and how to form a Pennsylvania safety committee and earn a 5 percent reduction in worker’s compensation costs. Prior to joining the Safeguard Group in 2004, Skuby had worked as a risk control/consultant with several insurance carriers, including Liberty Mutual, CIGNA, Reliance, PMA and XL America. He is well versed in OSHA standards and their application to a variety of work environments. He is active with the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers, having served on the board since 1998 and as its president in 2001 and 2002. Skuby is a certified OSHA instructor, qualified to teach the OSHA 10/30 construction safety programs.

During the meeting, DVAED members also thanked Karen Zajick, vice president of Norris Sales, for organizing the well attended event.
