Empire Crane Company, a soon to be two-year-old, full servicing crane distributor, sells rents and repairs cranes of all sizes and makes. While the company name may be new, its staff is experienced and organized with many established well-organized individuals.

Brothers, Luke and Paul Lonergan founded Empire Crane as a full-service crane sales, rental and service business serving New York and New England.

Paul Lonergan, resident of Syracuse and president of Empire, has 15 years experience in crane sales and product support. He literally grew up around the crane industry and has nine years of experience in western New York State managing the area for another crane distributor.

Luke Lonergan, also a resident of Syracuse and vice president of Empire, has four years experience in crane sales and product support and was responsible for the New England market during the “Big Dig,” where he sold or re-rented more than 100 cranes.

Empire Crane already has experienced the kind of success that many companies can only hope to achieve after several years in business. In just the past year, Empire has sold 24 cranes, including a new Terex T340XL, 40-ton (36 t) hydraulic truck crane to Action Boom Truck Service in Brewerton, NY; a new Terex American HC110 crawler crane to A.L. Blades Company in Hornell, NY; and rented several crawler cranes up to 230 tons (207 t) — all this in a region that is generally recognized as a very sluggish market for crane sales.

Ron Lado, operations manager of Empire, and one of the most recognizable crane personalities in the industry, will continue in his not-unfamiliar role as the go-to guy for the brothers, Luke and Paul.

“Ron’s diversified talents have certainly come to the forefront, especially in these economic times,” report the boys.

Empire Crane operates out of a 14,000-sq.-ft. facility where it can maintain nearly any size crane. The company’s service staff, consisting of Harry Hotaling, Joe Benoit and Richard Garton, possesses more than 75 years combined experience in servicing crane equipment. Empire, which also offers certified crane inspections, has three fully-equipped field service vehicles.

Empire Crane Company is authorized to sell and service Terex mobile hydraulic rough-terrain and truck carrier mounted cranes (Waverly Products). They also are an authorized sales agent for Mantis crawler hydraulic cranes and are a Broderson National account. The need to move these large cranes around can be accomplished by the Liddell lowboy trailer account.

Recently, Empire made yet another move that will further strengthen its position in the crane world. The company formed a relationship with Garden State Engine & Equipment of Somerville, NJ, which now allows Empire to offer an even broader array of cranes and boom trucks to its customers. Included in this joint venture are the names National Crane; IMT, knuckle-boom cranes and unloaders; Cormach, knuckle-boom cranes and unloaders; Tail-Gator, truck-mounted forklifts; Princeton, piggyback forklifts; Manitowoc, trolley booms and block unloaders; and Clearfield, conveyors.

Upstate Crane Parts Inc. is an affiliate company of Empire Crane that supplies parts for virtually all makes of hydraulic cranes, crawler cranes and boom trucks.
