Giles & Ransome and Ransome Rents, both divisions of Giles & Ransome Inc., recently participated in the Berks County Public Works Association (BCPWA) 3rd Annual Mini Trade Show.

The trade show was held at the Leesport Farmers Market in Leesport, PA. A number of vendors from across Berks County and surrounding areas presented their products and services to municipality employees.

Giles & Ransome and Ransome Rents shared one indoor booth with equipment information and two outdoor booths showcasing both divisions’ equipment. Giles & Ransome’s outdoor booth featured a Cat 216 skid steer and a Cat 416 backhoe, and the Ransome Rents outdoor booth featured a variety of equipment from the division’s Allentown, PA, rental store, including a boom lift, vibratory plate and concrete cut-off saw.

Sarah Ehrlich, South Heidelberg Township manager and BCPWA secretary, explained why the association holds its annual trade show.

“This show brings the private and public sides — vendors and municipalities — together in one place. Municipality employees get an opportunity to experience the latest equipment, processes, techniques and technologies. Many of them wouldn’t otherwise have this opportunity,” Ehrlich said. “And it gives vendors the chance to interact with a large number of municipalities without having to transport their equipment from one township to another. This trade show is the perfect opportunity for information sharing on both sides to take place.”

The Berks County Public Works Association was created in 1996 to provide a forum for municipalities who share similar needs and issues to exchange information. The association has more than 100 municipal and vendor members, and it represents approximately 75 percent of the municipalities in Berks County.

Giles & Ransome Inc., headquartered in Bensalem, PA, is the authorized distributor for Caterpillar in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Northern Delaware.
