Dutch crane rental company Kraanverhuur Boekestijn is using its new Grove GMK6300L-1 to handle a months-long project replacing windows on a high-rise building in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam.

Space on the downtown project was extremely limited but the all-terrain crane still had to be set up with 82 tons of counterweight, 262 ft. main boom, and 121 ft. and 95 ft. hydraulic swingaway jibs. This configuration is needed to reach the highest sections of the building and ensure the crane can maneuver over obstacles. In the end, the GMK6300L-1 proved to be the ideal choice for the job.

"The reach with the GMK6300L-1 is world-class, with [262 ft.] of main boom and the chance to increase the overall system length to [394 ft.] with extensions. Set-up is fast and easy, including for the counterweight, and with the crane's compactness and outrigger base, we can get it into tight spaces, like the job site in Rotterdam. We now have two of the Grove 300t cranes in the Boekestijn fleet; for us, it's the best performer in this class," said René Boekestijn, co-owner and managing director of Kraanverhuur Boekestijn.

The 331 ton capacity Grove GMK6300L-1 offers exceptional strength and can lift 15.4 tons at the full length of its 263 ft. main boom and up to a 92 ft. working radius. Because the crane and its outrigger base are very compact it makes for fast and easy setup, especially in urban areas and tight job sites.

Power for the carrier comes from a 430 kW Mercedes Benz (EUROMOT 5/Tier 4 final) engine which is paired with a reliable Allison transmission in a design that also features MEGATRAK suspension and all-wheel steering.

"Kraanverhuur Boekestijn loves the crane's powerful lifting capacity and reach. For this job, the main boom plus hydraulic swingaway jib has demonstrated exceptional performance, enabling the lifting of loads even over obstacles. Grove all-terrain cranes help the company meet any challenge on the jobsite, and we look forward to continuing to do business with the company in the future," said Niek Brabers, sales manager of mobile cranes in the Netherlands at Manitowoc.

Kraanverhuur Boekestijn is a Dutch crane rental company founded in 1943. It remains family-owned and is currently run by third-generation Boekestijn family members. The company is active in general construction, industrial, ports, wind energy, petrochemical and government projects.
