Heavy Machines Inc. (HMI), based in Memphis, Tenn., recently opened a 14,000 sq. ft. branch facility in Birmingham, Ala., situated on approximately 4 acres just off Interstate 20.

This branch is an authorized distributor of LBX, KCM and Liebherr machines, and provides sales and service for Furukawa Rock Drill and Rotobec grapples. HMI also services other makes and models in its shop in Birmingham. HMI was already selling LeTourneau products and Liebherr forestry products in the area for well over 10 years, so the company has a strong presence in the marketplace.

Previously, HMI had service technicians in the area for maintenance support, so opening this facility was a matter of just “finishing out the support,” according to Mike Moseley, branch customer support manager. Machine service is accommodated by six service bays with high ceilings and doors to perform work on virtually any machine, with a comprehensive parts stocking area with mezzanine storage.

Moseley, who has been with the company for just over 30 years, said, “The opening of this branch represents increased efficiency for our customers. We take ownership of our customer's problems with a great sense of urgency. Our 24/7 service capability is second nature to the overall company culture, and that will continue to be the same philosophy here in Birmingham.”

“We want our present and future customers to know that we are positioning ourselves at this location to be a solid equipment and service resource. We have the technical ability, parts inventory and equipment offerings to be a very good alternative provider. Anything we sell, we rent from this location.”—CEG
