A factory tour at J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers’ manufacturing facility offered a behind-the-scenes look at the production process.

J&J Truck Bodies and Trailers teamed up with Walsh Equipment Company Feb. 17 to host a Customer Appreciation Day Open House at J&J's facilities in Somerset, Pa.

The event featured a plant tour at J&J Truck Bodies and Trailers' facilities, as well as truck and equipment displays and demonstrations. Afterwards, the event moved to J&J Truck Equipment's sales office and manufacturing and upfitting facility where attendees were treated to lunch and door prizes. Approximately 140 of J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers and Walsh Equipment's mutual customers were on hand for the day's activities.

According to J&J Truck Bodies and Trailers Senior Vice President, Mike Riggs, Walsh Equipment continues to be an excellent business partner, sharing a common commitment to customer service and satisfaction and J&J was pleased to have the opportunity to support the dealership and thank their common customers.

A division of Somerset Welding & Steel, J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers manufactures a wide range of standard and specialty truck bodies and trailers and is distinguished for its design expertise and customization capabilities. The company's origins go back to 1958 when it began as a manufacturer of steel dump bodies to serve the local area coal haulers and farmers. Over the years, the company has expanded its product line and market focus to offer application-focused equipment, serving a range of industries, including rock hauling, demolition and excavation work, recycling and waste hauling, and agricultural and municipal applications. In 2007, J&J introduced pressure vacuum tanks commonly used in the natural gas industry for hauling brine water.

Located east of Pittsburgh in Somerset, Pa., the company currently maintains three facilities with a combined total of more than 260,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space and employs more than 200.

Walsh Equipment is celebrating its 85th year as a family-owned dealership and is headquartered in Prospect, Pa., with a second location in Lilly, Pa. Along with being Central Pennsylvania's authorized J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers dealer, the company also is a full-line JCB dealer as well as the dealer for a number of other lines, including LeeBoy, Rosco, Schwarze street sweepers and Terex Environmental Equipment. The dealership holds a round of four technician-focused regional events running from May through August; details for these to be announced.
