Construction Equipment Guide

JCB now has a 15 machine line-up ranging from the 22.5-hp (16.7 kW) Mini CX through to the 100 hp (74.5 kW).

Due to low operating weights and compact dimensions, the Mini, Midi, and 1CX are all easily transported on a 0.75 (0.68 t) ton pick-up. This can prove a benefit to operators in terms of convenience and economizing transportation costs.

Midi CX

The JCB Midi CX is the newest member to the family. It effectively does the job of three machines, according to the manufacturer.

Designed for equipment rental companies, local municipalities, landscaping contractors, general building contractors and small utility work, the Midi CX can carry out roles traditionally associated with mini excavators, skid steer loaders and compact tractors. This brand new machine bridges the gap between JCB’s 1CX and 2CX models in terms of size and performance.

In addition to conventional backhoe applications, it features an easily detachable excavator end. Also offered are three point linkage, creep speed and Power Take Off, which allows the use of a vast range of rear mounted attachments — enabling the Midi CX to perform as an industrial compact tractor. It is compatible with the extensive list of attachments from JCB’s 2CX and Robot skid steer models. Options include: mowers, bush hogs, box scrapers, breakers, hedge trimmers, buckets, augers and pallet forks.

When the PTO is specified, the transmission comes complete with a ’creep speed’ function, enabling the machine’s travel speed to be set independently of the PTO speed — an important function when powering attachments, such as mowers or bush hogs.

Powered by a 50-hp (37 kW) engine, the Midi CX has a dig depth of 10 ft. 1 in. (3 m). Its hydrostatic transmission makes it an easy machine to drive, delivering a top speed of 17 mph (27 kmh). It features 4WD as standard and has an anti-spill mechanism to retain the load when raising the loader. It will initially be available with a ROPS/FOPS approved canopy, with a fully enclosed cab available later this year.

2CX Models

The JCB 2CX range consists of four models offering high performance and versatility in a compact package.

Powered by the JCB Dieselmax engine, each model features a powerful parallel lift loader with high lift capacities and breakout forces. The result is maximum productivity and the ability to maintain the load level during raise and lower cycles.

A ROPS/FOPS canopy or cab provides a safe and spacious environment with increased visibility and lower noise levels.

The 2CX-12 boasts a side-shift back end design. Available with a fixed dipper, it is a highly powerful and productive machine. The 2CXU is effectively a utility tractor complete with category II, three point hitch and a 540 rpm Power Take Off, which can run a series of rear mounted attachments. The 2CXL is a dedicated utility loader designed for high productivity on rehandling and other loader-based applications, according to the manufacturer.

3CX, 4CX Models

The flagship JCB 3CX and 4CX ranges are available in six configurations.

Key features available include:

• The JCB Dieselmax engines

• An enhanced precision control system

• Increased hydraulic pressure

• A new one piece hood design to ease daily checks and routine maintenance

• Heavy lift loader cylinders to enhance productivity

• The JCB torque lock — a lock-up torque converter, which can reduce traveling times by 10 percent and fuel consumption by 13 percent
