JCB announced a new high-lift (HL) loader arm option for its 457 HT wheel loader. With a hinge pin height of 15 ft. 5 in. (4.7 m) — 23 in. (58 cm) higher than the standard ZX loader arm — the JCB 457 HT HL is now the highest lifting four-cylinder, 4.5-cu. yd. loader available in North America, according to the manufacturer.

Further, the unique design of the JCB HL loader arm reduces stress on the loader end and improves roll-back torque for easier curling of heavy attachments at full operating height. The advanced kinematics in the 457 HT HL also eliminate the need for a hydraulic cylinder in the center of the loader end, which significantly enhances visibility to the attachment.

"The increased lift height of the JCB 457 HT HL allows operators to load high-sided containers and trucks without the need for a ramp," said Rupert Bradley, product manager of wheel loaders at JCB North America. "This makes the already-impressive JCB 457 wheel loader the most efficient choice for a wider variety of material handling applications and for more owners and operators."

The 457 HT wheel loader is the largest wheel loader offered by JCB in North America, with an operating weight of 44,428 lb. (20,512 kg). The machine features a 258 hp (193 kW) MTU diesel engine that meets Tier IV Final emissions standards without the need for an expensive, productivity-sapping diesel particulate filter (DPF). And with the high, central operating position, seat-mounted controls and class-leading visibility of JCB's CommandPlus cab, the 457 HT provides increased operator comfort and situational awareness. The 457 HT also features ground-level service access and a one-piece hood.
