Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. (KSM) has opened a central parts warehouse in the Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex. The new warehouse is approximately 10,000 sq. ft., including 8,500 sq. ft. of warehouse space. Randy Short, long-time employee and inventory control manager for KSM, will manage the facility, which employs a staff of three additional personnel.

The company's new central parts warehouse will primarily stock specialty parts that are critical to machine uptime but are needed on a less frequent basis during the equipment's service. Due to the central location of the facility within KSM's geographical footprint, these parts can now be easily delivered to customers overnight, or in under five to six hours, if needed. The warehouse will also enable existing branches to maximize their on-site parts inventory space for more-frequently-needed, faster-moving parts, without sacrificing overall accessibility to less-frequently-required parts, ensuring that customers always have swift availability to the parts they need.

"The growth of our footprint and customer base, specifically regarding our parts business, has made the implementation of this new warehouse a necessity," said Brad Campbell, vice president of product support. "We want to have 98.5 percent parts availability within 24 hours, and this facility will be an important factor in helping us meet that goal as we continue our commitment to provide customers with exceptional service."
