Houston-based Leslie Doggett Industries, through its Doggett Truck Group, has acquired privately-held Truck Enterprises Inc.

Truck Enterprises was founded in 1980 and is an authorized Western Star, Detroit Diesel and extreme heavy-duty trailer dealer located in El Paso, Texas. and Carlsbad, N.M. As a result of the acquisition, Doggett now has a third location in El Paso and adds Carlsbad. Doggett will operate these dealerships under the name Truck Enterprises Inc.

"Doggett will roll out our independent used truck and trailer model through this acquisition, which will complement and build on the celebrated history of Truck Enterprises, created and nurtured by founders Lanny and Linda Golucke," said Doggett's General Counsel, William Doggett. "Lanny [Golucke] will remain on as the leader of Truck Enterprises."

"Doggett is pleased to expand our footprint to serve more customers in El Paso and to enter the Carlsbad market," said Vice President of the Doggett Truck Group, Paul Burk. "We are eager to implement the same initiatives and processes that have made Doggett successful and have been the foundation of our dynamic growth in other markets."

Doggett's aspirations are to grow the El Paso stores similarly to the growth experienced at Doggett's Little Rock, Ark., Freightliner dealership, which has been nominated by Successful Dealer Magazine as one of five finalists for the single best-run heavy truck dealership in the United States. Doggett achieved this honor after the company acquired all the Freightliner dealerships in Arkansas only 14 months ago. In addition, Doggett's Ford dealership in Houston is one of the fastest growing dealerships among more than 3,000 Ford dealerships in the United States and is the fastest growing dealership in Houston. Doggett plans to grow Truck Enterprises in the same manner, the company said.

Western Star is a division of Freightliner, which is the North American brand for the world's largest truck maker, Daimler Benz Trucks. Freightliner is North America's largest highway (18-wheeler) and vocational truck manufacturer with market share often exceeding 40 percent — almost three times the next closest competitor.

Doggett is a Houston-based diversified heavy equipment dealer for six first-tier manufacturers that are either number one or two in their respective industries: John Deere construction and forestry equipment (17 dealerships), Toyota industrial equipment - forklifts & material handling (seven dealerships), Freightliner and Western Star on-highway and vocational trucks (nine dealerships), Link Belt cranes (three dealerships) and a Ford auto and truck dealership.
