Liebherr USA Co. Construction Equipment's R 920 Compact swing crawler excavator combines features of a standard crawler excavator with the advantages of a compact swing machine, while maintaining its high performance and versatility. This excavator has a short tail swing of only 6 ft. 1 in. (1.8 m). With its tight slewing radius, this machine is well designed for use on space restricted job sites.
The R 920 Compact is powered by a 148 hp (110 kW) Tier IVf diesel engine and has a SCR system with urea injection and oxidation catalyst. Particulate filters are available as an option. Operating weight ranges from 41,890 to 46,300 lbs. (19,000 to 21,000 kg)
The Liebherr x-shaped undercarriage design improves the performance and extends the service life of the R 920 Compact excavator, according to the manufacturer. The reliable and robust travel mechanism is easy to maintain and the integrated eyelets make it effortless to secure and transport. Customers can choose from four undercarriage combinations including a bulldozer blade option. Rubber track pads also are available as an option.
Considering the large scope of equipment accessories, the R 920 Compact covers a broad range of applications and meets a variety of customer requirements. The excavator has maintenance points that are easy to access, for example, engine oil levels can be comfortably read from the ground. The standard central lubrication system also increases the service life of the components and the safety of the operator. The operator does not have to leave the cab for lubrication tasks, which in turn reduces daily maintenance and ensures machine uptime and high productivity.
The cab of the new R 920 Compact swing crawler excavator gives the operator a comfortable and spacious work area. The standard air-suspension operator's seat, automatic air-conditioning and the high-resolution 7 in. color touch screen offer maximum comfort. The fully retractable windshield and the rear-view camera, integrated in the counterweight, ensure full visibility of the entire working area. An optional lateral camera can be installed for added safety. The ROPS certified cab structure protects the operator in the event of an accident and assures maximum safety. An emergency exit above the rear window is available for every excavator configuration.
The Liebherr-XPower driveline considerably increases working efficiency, according to the manufacturer. Quick working cycles, high tipping loads and high machine uptime lead to increased handling capacity and higher productivity. This exponential driveline paired with Liebherr-Power-Efficiency (LPE) achieves a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 30 percent when compared to conventional travel drive systems. The high efficiency of the drive system reduces operating costs and increases profitability. The Liebherr-XPower driveline brakes automatically and the service brake acts only in a support function, therefore hardly subject to any wear.
Wheel spin on the Liebherr L 550 wheel loader is prevented through continuous tractive effort control of the XPower driveline, combined with automatic self-locking differentials, tire wear is reduced by upwards of 25 percent.
Liebherr XPower wheel loaders provide safe and easy engine access. Daily checkpoints and critical maintenance points on the loader can be reached quickly and effectively, providing faster turnarounds and higher uptimes.
The roomy and ergonomic cab is designed to provide maximum comfort for the operator's day-to-day requirements. The operating and control instruments are easily accessible and user-friendly. The high operating comfort allows the operator to work efficiently and safely.
