Mon July 08, 2019 - Northeast Edition #14
Edgar A. Browning – Special to CEG

Slattery Contracting Corp. of Maspeth, N.Y., was awarded Connecticut Turnpike Contract No. 302- 02 in Greenwich, Conn. for $7,269,353. The project began at the N.Y. state line and extended east for 3.8 mi. Excavation included 805,00 cu. yds. of solid rock to drill, shatter and move. The extremely close proximity of homes and buildings as well as four live New Haven Railroad RR tracks conspired to add difficulty to this complex job. The equipment spread included four Northwest 80-D shovels, five Euclid 22-ton trucks, and 5 LeTourneau Westinghouse B Tournarockers. CEG
