Martin Implement, the New Holland dealer in Orland Park, Ill., sponsored a New Holland Super Boom Road Show event on July 23, where more than 90 equipment operators registered to compete in the New Holland 200 Series Skid Steer Challenge for the title of the area’s best skid steer operator.

Joe Perino, owner of Perino Brothers, Crete, Ill., won the competition with a time of 00:54.96. Perino earned a $500 cash prize and travel for two to Louisville, Ky., to go up against the top finishers from more than 30 Super Boom Road Show events across the United States and Canada in a final competition during GIE+EXPO 2011 (Oct. 27 to 29). The final competition will determine the North American champion.

The grand prize winner will receive a new, fully loaded New Holland 200 Series skid steer loader — valued at more than $35,000 — for their sponsoring company, plus $5,000 and New Holland gear for the operator.

Perino has operated heavy equipment like skid steer loaders and other machines for more than 25 years. Perino Brothers is involved in construction, concrete and excavation work.

As part of the event, New Holland Construction and Martin Implement donated $1,300 to the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago at the event. New Holland dealers from across North America are hosting Super Boom Road Show events in 2011, which are expected to raise an aggregate total of at least $20,000 for local chapters of the American Red Cross and Canadian Red Cross.
