Meekins Holds 17th Annual December Contractors Auction

Lloyd Meekins & Sons Auction Company hosted its 17th annual December Contractors Auction on Dec. 27 at its Lumberton, N.C., facility.

More than 2,500 people in attendance bid on 1,484 lots, which featured absolute packages of equipment and trucks from Allen Grading Company, Clancy & Theys Construction, Fontaine Landscaping, Gregory Poole Equipment Company, Malpass Construction Company Inc., Midstate Equipment, SEC Enterprise Company, ST Wooten Corporation, Whaley Contractors Inc. and other owners.

Online bidding accounted for about 20 percent of equipment and truck purchases, buyers from Japan were highly interested in Kobelco excavators and online buyers from Belgium were very active on Galion and Dresser motorgraders. A 2008 Cat AP-1055D rubber track asphalt paver sold for $133,000 to a buyer from Texas.
