Construction Equipment Guide

John Capponi, president of Mega Construction Co., Philadelphia, PA, is starting the New Year off on the right foot with 12 New Holland 575E backhoes.

Capponi, president of Mega Construction Co., Philadelphia, PA, recently updated his backhoe fleet with the purchase of the 575Es from Modern Construction Equipment, Hatfield, PA. Ten of the 575Es are equipped with New Holland’s extended dipperstick and two of the backhoes are equipped with standard hoes and plumbed for Rammer hammers. All the machines have flip forks.

Finding the Right Machine

Mega Construction, one of the most respected concrete contracting companies in Pennsylvania, counts on rugged, reliable equipment. When Capponi decided it was time to update his fleet of backhoes, he and his crews began demoing a number of different makes and models. After test driving all the machines, Capponi found the right combination of power, performance and ease of operation in the New Holland 575E backhoes.

The 575E, said Capponi, gives the operators easy-to-use controls, plenty of power and a comfortable cab. “The backhoes are well-built machines,” said Capponi. “The other thing we liked about these machines is the excellent warranty that Modern and New Holland offered. Overall, we’re getting a great package.”

Making the Purchase

When it was time to make the purchase, Capponi looked to Andy Pennington of Modern Construction Equipment. Pennington, who introduced Mega Construction to the New Holland backhoes, pointed out the machine’s quick cycle times and outstanding digging performance . Capponi has been dealing with Pennington for six years. “We’ve come to count on Andy to help find the right equipment at the right price. We know we can depend on him,” said Capponi. “Personally, Andy keeps his word.”
