Efficiency Production Inc., the Michigan Rural Water Association (MRWA) and Southeastern Equipment Co., hosted Municipal Safety Day, for Michigan communities’ departments of public works (DPW) and water department personnel. The third annual event attracted 85 participants from more than 30 Michigan communities on June 9, 2009.

“Municipal Day is designed specifically for public works personnel,” said Ken Forsberg, president of Efficiency Production Inc. “We combined three very important safety issues for these workers: confined spaces, backhoe operation, and trench safety; into a practical, in-the-classroom and in-the-field training.”

Participants spent the morning part of the day in classroom training on confined spaces and MIOSHA excavation safety standards. The afternoon session featured field training, on:

• backhoe safety and operation, presented by Southeastern Equipment;

• aluminum hydraulic shoring uses and operation training, and

• application of trench safety equipment in different excavation conditions.

Serving Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan, Southeastern Equipment’s locations in Michigan are in Novi and Holt.

The Michigan Rural Water Association’s mission is to provide resources, education, and networking to all members, future members, and their customers in order to enhance quality of services. Its vision is to be recognized as the leader in supporting public works issues in the State of Michigan.

Efficiency Production Inc., “America’s Trench Box Builder,” provides a wide selection of standard and custom trench shielding and shoring systems. Efficiency’s products are designed specifically for installation of utility systems and infrastructure improvements. All products are P.E. certified to meet OSHA and MIOSHA standards.
