Wed January 30, 2019 - National Edition
Perkins

The 1700 Series of engines takes Perkins industrial offering into a new power bracket, giving Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) the opportunity to extend the use of the company's engines across their range. The series offers excellent power density, allowing customers to downsize and save money, and take advantage of the cost of installation and ownership and robust and reliable performance. Packed with advanced engine technologies, the series is designed to meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emissions standards – and is also EU Stage V capable.

Perkins 1700 Series is a powerful, compact and robust family of industrial engines designed to improve the performance and productivity of your machines. Engines in the series meet Tier 4 Final emission standards and are designed to meet Stage V – meaning they're designed with the future in mind.

The 6 cylinder 1706 model is a 9.3 litre turbocharged and aftercooled unit with direct injection and a fully electronic control system. With a power range of 250-340 kW (335-456 hp) it's the ideal choice for hard-working applications, particularly in construction, and has been validated to deliver optimal performance in the harshest working environments.

Excellent Power Density

The 9.3 litre 1706 is a new platform for Perkins, which means OEMs can extend the use of our engines across their range. Excellent power density also allows customers to select a smaller engine where they might have used a larger unit previously. This downsizing not only creates additional space to optimize machine installation for operator usability, but it also reduces running costs, making machines more competitive.

The 1706 has been designed with simple and low-cost installation in mind. Low heat rejection in the engine allows for a small cooling pack, which not only makes it easier to install, it means customers will spend less on a cooling pack. Features such as on-engine aftertreatment mounting also contribute to reduced installation costs.

Robust Performance

This reliable and robust engine has been designed to keep hard-working, productive machines running in the toughest conditions - and ensure they're as productive as possible.

Customers can also rely on low cost of ownership, with fuel consumption optimised for a wide range of equipment and applications. Low cost maintenance is also achieved through service-free aftertreatment and 500-hour oil change intervals.

Meeting Global Engine Needs

The 1706, along with the 13 liter 2206, 15 liter 2506 and 18 liter 2806, expands Perkins industrial engine offering. This saves OEMs time and money by enabling you to go to just one supplier to meet all your engine needs for your global machine line-up.
