Philly Expo Offers Iron From A to Z

Construction Equipment Guide

The Philadelphia Construction Expo VI had something for everybody — contractors, landscapers and municipal workers alike.

Held at the Fort Washington Expo Center on March 8 and 9, the Expo again provided equipment and attachment dealers a forum in which they could meet the thousands of potential customers.

Many exhibitors reported having either sold iron or having gained many potential leads. U.S. Municipal Supply Inc., King of Prussia, PA, said it sold a LeeBoy 8515 to Harris Blacktopping, Yardley, PA, within the first couple of hours of the Expo.

While taking a break from shopping for iron, guests could speak with and receive autographs from Chuck Bednarik, a legendary Philadelphia Eagles player from the 1960’s championship team. Also representing the hometown football team were several Eagles’ cheerleaders who were available to sign calendars and for photo opportunities.

Due to inclement weather, the backhoe rodeo was postponed on the first day of the show. On the second day, however, the snow subsided (though the wind remained) and contestants competed in an abridged competition in which prize money was awarded to the top seven finishers. Mark Olson, of M.P. Olson Excavating, Suffern, NY, and Fred Zahn, of Harrington Co., Chester, NJ, were the top two finishers, with Olson taking the championship and the $1,000 prize.

There also were many lucky door prize winners over the course of the two-day show, including Jeff Donnelly, of Utility Line Services, Clayton, NJ, who won an Apex 27-in. LCD HDTV monitor, and Michael Hammond, of Naudam Enterprises, West Grove, PA, who won NASCAR tickets to an upcoming race at Pocono Raceway.

As another successful Philadelphia Construction Expo comes to a close, CEG Productions now turns its attention to its other shows in 2005-06: the New York State Highway & Public Works Expo in Syracuse, NY, on Oct. 19; the Charlotte Construction Expo, in Charlotte, NC, on Dec. 6 and 7; and the second annual Pittsburgh Construction Expo Feb. 7 and 8, 2006.

Thank you for exhibiting and attending this year’s show, and we hope to see all of you again!
