Power Curber 8700 Keeps Watchful Eye on Stringlines

Construction Equipment Guide

The Power Curber 8700 pours flat surfaces up to 16 ft. (4.9 m) wide. The paver is designed for V-ditches for irrigation; monolithic curbs, gutters, and sidewalks; roller-compacted concrete dams; barrier and bridge/parapet up to almost 6 ft. (1.8 m) high; and glare screens.

The 8700 has the capability to look for a left-side stringline, a right-side stringline or for two stringlines. This versatility is achieved by simply throwing a switch.

The 8700 is a well-balanced machine with the weight concentrated in its center. An option of either a three-or four-track machine is offered. The three-track is standard for curbs, gutters, median barriers, some ditches and sidewalks poured on the left. The fourth track is added for variable barriers where the sides of the wall are varied to match asphalt pavement. The fourth post, crawler bolt-on and the hydraulic straddle legs spread the frame for paving. Once widened, the Power Curber 8700 drives over the paving package and is attached to the frame.

A pivoting mold allows transport with curb and gutter applications. After paving, the mold pivots on a swinging arm to the rear of the machine for transport. This allows the 8700 to travel at legal width without major disassembly.

For paving, concrete can be loaded either into the standard conveyor and hopper or discharged directly on to the ground in front of the machine. The paving mold includes a spreader auger that delivers concrete evenly to the outside corners of the mold.

The trimmer does not have to be removed. It shifts to the center of the machine for quick transport to the next job. The 8700 trims and paves sections up to 7.9 ft. (2.4 m) wide in one pass. Curb below grade is handled with the 8700’s 35.8-in. (91 cm) lift cylinders and hydraulically adjustable fine trimmer. The machine can be equipped with up to 12 vibrators.
