Purchase Puts Michigan John Deere Under New Ownership

Deere & Company has confirmed that Nortrax Inc. has sold its operations in Michigan to JDE Equipment Company. The transaction took effect Nov. 20.

According to JDE Equipment General Manager Bill McDaniel, JDE will serve all but five counties in lower Michigan, with John Deere construction equipment, Hitachi (including mining equipment), and the Eager Beaver trailer line.

“We’ll sell anything from skid steer loaders to very large mining equipment,” McDaniel said of JDE’s range of products.

JDE has three locations, including one in Grand Rapids, MI, in the former Nortrax facility. The address is 5770 Clyde Park, and the phone number is 616/530-2000.

A second location is at 777 US-31 South in Traverse City, MI. The phone number is 231/943-3996.

JDE also has converted a facility in New Hudson (which formerly sold JCB and Komatsu) into a John Deere dealership.JDE closed a Nortrax branch in Troy, MI, and moved its inventory to that New Hudson location at 56555 Pontiac Trail. The phone number is 248/437-8121.

JDE Equipment Company is owned by Jim Behrenwald, who will serve as the company’s president.

Deere maintains a minority interest in Nortrax, its largest construction and forestry equipment dealer, which continues to operate 50 locations in 17 states.
