Ring Power GM Dallas Johnson Dies

SVP and Ring Power Crane General Manager Dallas Johnson succumbed to pancreatic cancer at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., June 27.

Born in St. Augustine, Fla., in 1944, Mr. Johnson excelled at sports throughout his youth and was awarded a full football scholarship to the University of Florida, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in advertising, Mr. Johnson forged a career in the crane and heavy equipment industry, including 19 years as president of Coastal Crane Consultants Inc.

In 1994, Mr. Johnson joined Ring Power Corporation as vice president of crane sales and successfully grew the crane division for 16 years before recently retiring as senior vice president. In addition to serving on the RPC Inc. board of directors, Mr. Johnson was the driving force behind the formation of Ring Power Crane's International Sales business unit and a founding member of the National dealer's crane council.

An avid hunter and sportsman in his free time, Mr. Johnson belonged to Epping Forest Yacht Club and Ponte Vedra Inn and Club and was a member and crewman of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He also was active in his community as a member of Christ Episcopal Church, founding member and past president of the Ponte Vedra Rotary Club and past president of Glenmore Retirement Center, where he diligently served on the board of directors for nine years.

Mr. Johnson's many friends and business associates will always remember him as a devoted family man and trustworthy friend. Known and respected for practicing business with uncompromising integrity, Mr. Johnson was equally revered as a willing mentor whose sense of humor was ever present and always appreciated.

Mr. Johnson was laid to rest July 9 in Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville following a memorial service. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Chambliss Schondelmaier, and daughter, Kym Johnson; and many more family members and close friends.
