Taylor Murphy (L) and Kathleen Llewellyn, both of Joseph Smith Enterprises of Wilmington, Del., are helping buyers price out container loading and equipment dismantling. Kevin Kobus (L) of Ritchie Bros. and Jason Rohrer, general manager of JTech Truck Services catch up at the auction. The younger generation of S&M Paving in Elkton, Md., bids on items while watching the rolling stock. Santa Claus came early, helping guide people around the Ritchie Bros. auction yard. A big selection of excavators went on the block in North East, Md.

More than 2,750 bidders participated online and in person at Ritchie Bros.’ multi-million dollar unreserved public equipment auction in North East, Md., on Dec. 17.

Bidders came from 45 countries, including all 50 U.S. states. Approximately 82 percent of the equipment was sold to out-of-state buyers, from as far away as Singapore, Germany and the United Arab Emirates. Online bidders purchased approximately 50 percent of the equipment sold.

Close to 2,600 equipment items and trucks were sold in the auction, including more than 90 compactors, 75-plus excavators, 30 wheel loaders, more than 80 scissor lifts, 45-plus boom lifts, more than 45 dump trucks, 105 truck tractors, 55-plus trailers, and more.
