Dan Northcott sits behind the wheel of this Dressta wheel loader, while his brother, Ben, looks at the specs. They are co-owners of Fuzzy Brothers Excavation of Walpole, N.H. John Vasel III (L) and his son, John Vasel IV of J.V. III Construction Inc., Rocky Hill, Conn., are interested in this John Deere 750C dozer. The auction kicked off with the forklifts rolling across the Ritchie ramp. The sale featured an extensive fleet of Terex mobile cranes. A Ritchie Bros. auction — “Where the world buys and sells heavy equipment.” The attendees were hard at work, testing every aspect of the machines before they drove down the ramp and were up for bid. There was a large selection of loaders available. A 2007 Cat 930G sold for $55,000. The sale also included a timed auction tent, allowing buyers to bid on attachments, consumer goods and other smaller items. These items are sold without an auctioneer, with lots closing at various times throughout the sale.

Ritchie Bros. hosted its biggest sale to date at its Manchester, N.H., site on July 26, with sales totaling more than $6.6 million.

More than 1,200 bidders (449 onsite and 828 online) participated, buying 1,394 lots of equipment. Online bidders purchased 41 percent of the lots available for sale.

Some of the featured equipment at the sale included:

• A 2009 Sterling LT 7500 triaxle drive with a National 40-ton (36 t) boom truck sold for $162,500.

• A 2007 Cat 930G loader sold for $55,000.

• A 1999 Cat D6R sold for $45,000.
