Road Machinery LLC (RML), the Komatsu dealer for Arizona, Southern California, New Mexico and the El Paso area of Texas, hosted a joint board meeting Oct. 28 between the Arizona AGC and Arizona Builders' Alliance (ABA).

As soon as the board meeting was completed, Road Machinery conducted an open house of the newly renovated 19,500 sq.-ft. facility located on 9.5 acres at 1339 West San Pedro in Gilbert, Ariz.

More than 215 RML customers, state officials and the association members came out to view the nearly $1 million improvements recently completed at the Gilbert facility.

After acquiring the property in September of '08 and doing a quick "move-in" in October of '08, RML decided the facility needed some improvements in order to meet the Road Machinery way of doing things to support its customers.

"We feel comfortable with our eight double deep services bays and over 6,000 square feet of parts warehousing to better serve the predicted needs of our customers in the coming years," David Weston, general manager, said. "The facility has an over all look of professionalism and we endeavor to keep the grounds and the work areas clean and orderly so our employees have a more efficient environment to perform their duties."

Arizona State Treasurer Dean Martin was the key-note speaker. Martin presented a "State of the State" financial address and presented the hard numbers and facts as to why the state budget is in such disarray from decisions that were made just a few years back. Martin stayed after his presentation and made his way around the attendees answering questions.

Representing two of RML's allied products were Gary Hafner of NPK and Steve Daigh of Wirtgen. There was one of RML's fully equipped, new generation Kenworth T300 service trucks on display. This new service truck gives the facility a total of 16 based in the Gilbert facility to enhance customer service. Included in the displays for the customers were a Komatsu PC400 excavator, a BR380 crusher, HD325 truck, and a Komatsu WA450 wheel loader.

As a perfect ending of a very busy day, the customers and all 42 of the RML employees were served a delicious Bar-B-Que dinner and all the trimmings.
