LOUDON, N.H. (AP) The state Transportation Department said the project to widen a road near the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Route 106 in Loudon was scheduled to start Oct. 26.

The first phase widens nearly a mile-long segment, from 800 ft. south of Mudgett Hill Road to 1,400 ft. north of the speedway's south entrance.

The entire project will widen a 3.5-mile section of the road. Drainage and guardrail improvements also are planned, and the construction of three storm water treatment ponds.

The department said most of the work on the $2.63 million project will be done in 2019.
