Roland Machinery Co., the Komatsu distributor, has been named a Level II Distributor by Komatsu America. This distinction has been given to just twelve of Komatsu’s North American distributors. In recognition of this achievement, Roland Machinery was awarded a plaque indicating that the company is a Dealer Certified Center and two Qualified Instructor Plaques for the trainers who successfully completed requirements for certification, Mike Bond and Mark Sperber.

“We are honored to have received the Level II Distributor designation,” said Matt Roland, vice president of sales at Roland Machinery. “It required a lot of work and coordination for both Roland and Komatsu, but we can now offer training on any Komatsu product for which our trainers have been certified. We have equipped our training centers with all the necessary training aids and test equipment.”

Level II Distributors are authorized to perform certified training in their own facilities and to instruct technicians employed by other Komatsu dealers. They are also authorized to teach Field Training Courses that are scheduled by Komatsu for customers.

All classes must be taught by certified trainers who have completed Komatsu’s rigorous certification process at the Komatsu Parts and Service Training Facility in Cartersville, Ga. Roland has established two Certified Training Centers, one in Springfield, Ill., and a second in Green Bay, Wis. Bond is the certified trainer for Springfield and Sperber for Green Bay.

Instructors must attend Komatsu’s specialized courses to become certified on specific products before they qualify to conduct classes on each particular product. Bond and Sperber are certified to teach training classes for Komatsu wheel loaders, excavators, dozers and motor graders. They are enrolled for classes in Peoria, Ill., so they can complete certification requirements for trucks.
