Roland Machinery, the Komatsu distributor, offers free Komtrax training to familiarize equipment owners with the data and reports available for the wireless monitoring system.
The training is available to anyone who has the system installed on any equipment and is provided at any Roland Machinery location or at the equipment owner’s facilities.
“There is a lot of information that Komtrax provides,” said Jerry Eastburn, vice president of product support at Roland Machinery. “It’s like learning any new system — it’s easier if you have someone guiding you through it. We have a dedicated trainer to go through the Komtrax information, including step-by-step details on how to access the information and how to use it to increase productivity and control costs.”
A wide range of information is tracked on the Komtrax system.
Fundamental metrics provide basic tracking capabilities for equipment, including location, number of hours and time of day operated and fuel level at the end of the day. More sophisticated data also can be accessed — notifications of need for service, instances of unsafe machine operation, and equipment conditions and problems. There are operation analysis reports that provide critical data for fleet utilization analysis, machine scheduling, future equipment purchases and job costing.
Komtrax is a helpful feature for diagnosing machine problems, according to the manufacturer.
Machine indicators can be accessed in a Roland Machinery shop, and a dialog between the operator and a certified technician enables a diagnosis of the problem. Field technicians can then be dispatched with the correct parts and additional diagnosis equipment. Any problems can usually be taken care of in just one trip, the manufacturer said.
Komtrax comes standard on most of Komatsu’s new model machines and includes five years free activation. In addition, any equipment with a 12V or 24V electrical system can be retrofitted with Komtrax, including service trucks, utility machines and non-Komatsu equipment.
Roland Machinery Company has been selling and servicing heavy machinery since 1958. An exclusive dealer for Komatsu, the company has fifteen locations throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin.
