SANY America Inc. held a ceremony to mark the start of construction on the site of what will become the company’s first North American manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters in Peachtree City, Ga. The booms of SANY’s concrete pump trucks filled the sky as the company celebrated with the official construction commencement ceremony. All SANY America employees were invited to come out to the construction site to see the progress and mark this special occasion.

“The new building represents a significant investment by SANY Group,” said Jack Tang, president of SANY America at the construction commencement ceremony. “It will ensure that we continue our progress in recruiting some of the best engineers in the world, and will provide them with an environment that will allow them to push the boundaries of innovation and quality in our brand of construction equipment.”

SANY’s new facility is being constructed on a 228 acre site in Peachtree City, Ga., and will be focused on the research and development, sales and marketing and manufacture and assembly of lattice boom crawler cranes, rough terrain cranes, truck mounted concrete pumps, hydraulic excavators, motorgraders, reach stackers, container handlers and rotary drill rigs. Construction of the new facility is planned to be completed in approximately 12 to 14 months, with product production expected to begin soon thereafter.

Perkins and Will, an internationally recognized architectural design firm, created an innovative, modern design for SANY’s new facility referred to as “The Wave.” The entire front façade, as well as the eastern wall of the facility, will be constructed with glass giving the facility a very distinctive and sleek appearance. There will be a total of 360,000 sq. ft. under roof and the new facility will reach almost 50 ft. in height.

The office portion of the building will be arranged on three levels with each floor containing 60,000 sq. ft. of space. The building will house all members of the company’s corporate staff, engineering, sales and marketing, research and development, in addition to manufacturing and warehouse employees. It also will serve as the North American distribution center for both finished goods and service parts, plus it will have both outdoor display and storage areas for finished machine inventory. In addition to the usual employee amenities there will be outdoor picnic and activity areas on the attractive landscaped grounds of the facility, designed to accommodate up to 500 employees.

Construction on this first phase of SANY America’s North American Headquarters has a projected cost in excess of $60 million dollars. Currently, 115 are employed at SANY America, with plans to grow to 300 by the end of 2012. The property itself provides up to 1.2 million sq. ft. of buildable area allowing SANY America to continue to grow and develop with phases II, III and IV.

“It is an exciting time for our customers and the entire team at SANY America. It will be an impressive site,” said Kyle Nape, vice president of global sales and marketing.
