Construction Equipment Guide

The multi-purpose Talbert 55-ton (50 t) hydraulic detach telescopic trailer adapts to a variety of loads as its telescopic deck extends from 30- to 50-ft. (9 to 15 m) — giving haulers what they need, when they need it — and offering the advantages of transporting large self-supporting loads such as steel tanks, large generators and much more. Furthermore its 20-in. (51 cm) loaded deck height is preferred over the 22- to 24-in. (56 to 61 cm) loaded deck heights seen on conventional units, according to the manufacturer.

Its spread axle capabilities allow a 2 + 2; or a 3 + 1 configuration; and its tandem axle features connections for a third axle that can be flipped or removed. The unit also is equipped with connections for a future fourth axle. Additionally, this Talbert telescopic trailer is engineered with a pinned and hinged gooseneck extension that can be flipped. The ability to flip or remove the third axle, and the capability of flipping the gooseneck extension delivers key advantages during empty travel by allowing haulers to retract to an overall trailer length that is less than 53 ft. (16 m).

Among standard features, the Talbert 55-ton telescopic trailer is equipped with air-ride suspension; Dura-Bright aluminum outer wheels; strobe lights at the rear of each axle; and a battery back-up that powers the lighting package when the trailer is disconnected from the truck cab.

Talbert SSTA 5053 Trailer

Ideal for the heavy-duty towing and recovery industry, the SSTA 5053 is loaded with more standard features (over conventional units) in a base model while delivering cost-effective versatility in a variety of applications. With a 50-ton (45 t) capacity; a 41-ft.-6-in. (12.6 m) lower deck and 53-ft. in overall length, the SSTA 5053 traveling axle trailer features a 6-degree loading angle and a 14-degree dumping angle making it suitable as a general purpose trailer, or for the easy loading and off-loading of non-operating equipment — particularly pieces with lower ground clearance.

The Talbert SSTA 5053 is equipped with a 15,000-lb. (6,804 kg) planetary winch standard. Due to its direct drive system, the planetary winch is preferred over the traditional worm gear design seen on many competitive units — and it offers up to twice or more the loading speed over the worm gear winch, according to the manufacturer.

Talbert’s planetary winch is operated via a multi-function wireless remote, allowing one operator to load and steer a piece of non-operational equipment without having to leave the trailer.

The Talbert SSTA 5053 is comprised of a T-1 and 80K steel beam constructed framework; 4-in. (10 cm) I-beam cross members on 9-in. (23 cm) centers; and 1-1/2 in. (3.8 cm) apitong flooring. Among many other standard features, the SSTA 5053 includes air-ride suspension; a two-speed landing gear, hub-piloted steel disc wheels, and both side and center tie-down slots for greater loading ease and application flexibility.
