Tractor & Equipment Company (TEC) has announced that its Stith Division has become the primary distributor for Ingersoll-Rand compaction equipment and Blaw-Knox paving equipment in the state of Georgia.

It also handles the full E. D. Etnyre & Co. line of equipment in the state.

Under the agreement reached with Ingersoll-Rand, TEC’s Stith Division, based in Forest Park, GA, is the firm’s primary source for compaction, paving, material transfer vehicles and rotary drills across the state.

“This is a major milestone for the Stith Division,” said Jim Waitzman Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Tractor & Equipment Company. “It takes this division to a new level in providing paving and compaction products and support for the road building industry in Georgia.” Ingersoll-Rand operates a major manufacturing facility in Carrollton, GA.

Among the products covered under the new distribution agreement are Etnyre’s line of bituminous distributors, low-boy trailers and chip spreaders. “Etnyre has more than a century’s experience in developing and manufacturing products for the asphalt paving and hauling industries,” said Dan Stracener, president, TEC.

“We are delighted to represent such a fine line of equipment in Georgia. To support our Etnyre and other paving-related equipment lines, we’ve recently added two experienced paving specialists – one each for North and South Georgia. Further, our current sales, service and support staff are receiving factory-level training at every branch location to ensure the highest level of customer service and support. We intend to offer the best products, support and service to Georgia’s paving contractors and our agreement with Etnyre underscores that commitment,” he added.

In late 2001, Birmingham-based Tractor & Equipment Company acquired Stith Equipment Company, an equipment distributor with operations throughout Georgia, with a commitment to expanding the organization’s ability to serve the road building and transportation contractors in the state. This agreement is another step in the company’s drive to become the preferred source for construction, mining and road building equipment in Georgia.

The Stith Division is stocking parts and other key components, while new equipment inventory is arriving at branch locations across the state.

According to Waitzman, these agreements cover only the state of Georgia and will have no affect on its operations in Alabama and Northwest Florida. TEC’s Stith Division operates branches in Atlanta (Forest Park), Augusta, Albany, Columbus, Dalton, Hoschton, Macon and Savannah.

Tractor & Equipment Company is a construction, mining and heavy equipment distributor. Including the Georgia operations of its Stith Division, the firm operates more than 20 branches in Alabama, Northwest Florida and Georgia.
